Veterans Park in downtown Ware will be the place to find an eclectic mix of music on Saturday, October 6 from 2pm to 7pm. The Ware Business and Civic Association Fall Fest features five bands who will each take a turn on stage with selections ranging from rock and roll to blues to American Motor Music.
Kicking off the event at 2pm is The Beaver Hut Band. Beaver Hut Band is bringing all generations together with a wide variety of rock music covering bands from lynyrd skynyrd to alice in chains and everything between. As a young band their goal is to appeal to all and have fun doing it. Band members have played together on and off for the past 5 years though the current line-up has been at it for the past 9 months. Band members include Travis Pearce on bass and lead/backup vocals, Luke Kopacz on rhythm guitar and lead/backup vocals, Chris Guzik on Lead Guitar and Lead/backup vocals, and Andy Hogan on drums and backup vocals.
At 3pm Liberty Jones features homegrown music west of Wormtown, Liberty Jones is a collaborative project of songwriters. Suzanne LePage on lead vocals and guitar, Gregg Ackerman on lead guitar and vocals, John Alphin on mandolin and vocals, Nicole Sutka -bass, flute, recorder and vocals. Jonathan Cook writes lyrics for most of Suzanne's tunes. The group plays out in various combinations of duet and trio, and form a full quintet when joined by drummers Tim Kane or Gail Hegeman.
At 4pm is hometown favorite Charlie Lask, Neil Diamond Tribute. After performing with 80's rock bands "August Moon" and "Fully Loaded", Charlie went off to focus on running his business and raising a family. Now he's back entertaining audiences up and
down the east coast. Charlie is a member of one of the top legends shows performing with some of the best impersonators and tribute artists in the country.
His solo show is a unique, high-energy tribute to one of the top performers and song writers of the 20th century: Neil Diamond.
5pm brings up local classic rock band Shocker from Belchertown. Shocker has been rocking the Pioneer valley since 2001, always striving to supply audiences with an unbelievable variety of high energy rock & roll that will make them dance and sing
along. Shocker has had opportunity to open for rock legends Molly Hatchet a popular American southern rock band and popular 80's band Cheap trick, widely known for their hit song “I want you to want me. “ With a rock-solid rhythm section, two distinct and talented vocalists up front, and blistering instrumentalists, Shocker is hard to beat.
Rounding out the day at 6pm is Ron Jones who performs today with the Diehards. Ron Jones is a musician specializing in American Motor Music. He performs music by a wide variety of musicians including his own creations.
Local comedienne Jeannie Odiorne will act as Mistress of ceremonies. Always ready with a joke, Jeannie has been a familar face hosting for a wide variety of charitable events in the area.
The Fall Fest Celebration promises to be fun for the whole family. In addition to music, the event features, food, sidewalk sales, and in house business specials. Fun for the kids include face painters, magicians and clowns. All proceeds from the event will benefit the restoration of the Nenameseck Square fountain and The Grenville Park bandstand. “This is the perfect way to spend a fall afternoon, said Bill Braman, president of the Ware Business Association. “ Food, music, family and the opportunity to restore two local landmarks. The Ware Business & Civic Association was formed to develop, improve and expand business opportunities in the Town of Ware by fostering a positive environment of economic opportunity and growth and we are delighted to sponsor this wonderful event”.
